Shoots usually take place in the morning, over around 4 hours, from around 9-1. The light is great then and children are often at their best too. We won't take photos solidly for 4 hours; there's time in there to talk through ideas and have little breaks. See the example shoots section as a rough guide.
I will then come back 2 or 3 weeks later to show you all the photos in a slideshowand they will also be displayed in a password protected web gallery, so friends and family can see them if you'd like. There's no obligation to buy anything at this stage but we can talk about which photos and products you're interested in.
"Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the photos. We're spoilt for choice. My house will practically be a gallery of your work!"

What if it's raining?
A little rain can lead to some lovely photos - wellie boots, puddles, colourful umbrellas. And if it's really pouring it down, we can stay inside and get some lovely photos there instead.
What should we wear?
Anything goes and we can include 2 or 3 different outfits in a half day shoot. But general suggestions for you are:
- Avoid words or cartoons on clothes as they tend to distract from the faces in the picture
- With family groups, avoid clothes that clash with each other
- You can never go wrong with clothes like jeans that everyone is comfortable in
- Frilly skirts, hats, wellie boots, sparkles and the like, all add a special something to photos
What if one of us is not well?
We all get sick and we can always refix, as we want the models looking their best.
Pregnancy shoots
Pregnancy shoots mostly take place in your home. But if you choose we can always go outside, either into the garden or around your local area as well within the session. You'll see examples of both kinds of photos on my website.
"We wanted to say THANK YOU for your superb pictures, they are absolutely lovely !!! They are all really good but I think my favourite is the black and white by the river. We've already got 2 pictures up in the living room."

Newborn shoots
Newborn shoots are recommended around the 2-3 week stage, although if you're not ready for visitors at that point we can arrange the shoot for any time after that. Newborns can be sleeping for the whole shoot. I recommend giving them a good feed before I arrive, so they are at their best. And the warmer the house, the better. Parents often like to have a combination of photos with their baby with their favourite baby clothes on and naked and we can do both.
"We've got thousands of photos of Joseph taken in the weeks since he was born but yours stand out a mile."
